Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Training
Pathways for All Levels
Supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is a crucial responsibility for any Teaching Assistant (TA) or Learner Support Assistant (LSA). At Swift Teaching, we offer a comprehensive SEND training pathway, equipping your team with the essential skills and knowledge to support all students effectively.
Our SEND training includes a CPD-accredited SENDCo Pathway, which takes place during the Enhancement-Development stage of the apprenticeship. This pathway is led by an industry specialist lecturer with experience as a senior leader and SENDCo. While we do not offer the full SENDCo qualification, as it’s a substantial programme that would overshadow the TA apprenticeship, this introduction provides a valuable foundation for all TAs.
As part of our apprenticeship offering, all apprentices are enrolled on to the SENDCo pathway.
There are two key aims of this pathway:
- For those interested in the SENDCo career route: This serves as a stepping stone, offering experience and foundational knowledge before pursuing the full SENDCo qualification.
- For those not pursuing a SENDCo role: This pathway equips TAs with the confidence and knowledge to support students of all abilities, ensuring equal opportunities for every learner.
What They’ll Learn:
- Understanding SEND: A broad introduction to the various types of SEND and how to identify different learning needs in the classroom.
- Practical Strategies for Supporting SEND Students: Proven approaches to ensure students with diverse needs receive the tailored support they need to thrive.
- SEND Legislation and Frameworks: A deeper understanding of the legal frameworks, including the rights of students and the responsibilities of educators.
- Personalised Learning Plans: How to create and implement individualised education plans to ensure students receive personalised support.
- Collaboration with SENDCos: Skills to work effectively alongside Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENDCos) and other professionals to provide holistic support for students.
Who It’s For:
This training is perfect for new and experienced TAs alike. Whether your staff are looking to build a strong foundation or enhance their existing SEND knowledge, this course offers the confidence and expertise to support students with a wide range of learning needs.
Ready to Help Your Team Specialise in SEND?
